Parallel B.V. ("Parallel", "we", "us", "our") operates the B2B marketplace at parallelbroker.com (the "Platform"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

Parallel B.V. is a private limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands, with its registered office at Pietersbergweg 291, 1105 BM Amsterdam, The Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 98007718, VAT ID NL868322611B01.

The Platform is strictly for businesses. We deal with people who represent a business (Sellers and Buyers), not consumers. This policy covers the personal data of those representatives, contacts, and visitors to the Platform.

Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:

• Account data: name, business email address, phone number, password (stored hashed), role (Seller or Buyer), and language preference.
• Company and verification data: company name, registered address, Chamber of Commerce and VAT numbers, and the official registration documents we request to verify your business (know-your-business checks).
• Transaction data: orders, listings, invoices, deposits and payments, delivery and inspection records, and related correspondence.
• Communications: messages, support requests, and notices you send to us or exchange through the Platform or by email.
• Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, and actions taken on the Platform.
• Cookies and similar technologies: as described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not seek to collect special categories of personal data, and we ask that you do not provide them.

We use personal data for the following purposes, each with a legal basis under the GDPR:

• To provide the Platform and perform our contract with you: creating and managing your account, processing orders, arranging delivery, inspection and collection, and handling payments and invoices. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To verify businesses and prevent fraud: checking identity, legal status, and eligibility, and keeping the Platform secure. Legal basis: legitimate interests and, where applicable, compliance with a legal obligation.
• To meet legal obligations: tax, accounting, and record-keeping requirements under Dutch and EU law. Legal basis: legal obligation.
• To communicate with you: operational notices, transaction updates, and responses to your requests. Legal basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in running the Platform.
• To improve and secure the Platform: analytics and performance monitoring. Legal basis: consent (for non-essential cookies) and our legitimate interest in a reliable service.
• For marketing: sending you relevant offers and updates from Parallel. Legal basis: consent, or our legitimate interest in marketing to existing business customers. You can opt out at any time.

We use strictly necessary cookies to run the Platform, and, only with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies. You can review or change your choices at any time from the Cookie Policy link in the footer. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail.

We share personal data only as needed to run the Platform, and only with parties bound to protect it:

• Service providers (processors) acting on our instructions, including cloud hosting and database providers, and our transactional email provider.
• Logistics and inspection partners (the Inspection Warehouses) to the extent needed to deliver, inspect, and collect Goods.
• Payment and banking providers to process deposits, payments, and refunds.
• Professional advisers (such as accountants and lawyers) where reasonably necessary.
• Authorities, regulators, or courts where we are legally required to do so.
• A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or reorganisation of our business.

The other party to a transaction (your counterparty) is Parallel itself, as Parallel acts as reseller. We do not sell your personal data.

We aim to keep personal data within the European Economic Area. Where a provider processes data outside the EEA, we put appropriate safeguards in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, so your data stays protected.

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Account data is kept while your account is active. Transaction, invoice, and tax records are kept for at least seven (7) years to meet Dutch tax and accounting obligations. Verification documents are kept for as long as needed to evidence our checks. After that, we delete or anonymise the data.

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erase your data in certain circumstances.
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Data portability, where applicable.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@parallelbroker.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, including encryption in transit, access controls, and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond promptly to any incident.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised policy.
